Dear Focus Photo Club Members,
Over the past year, the Board has implemented a couple of key updates to our competition rules. Our goal was to simplify our processes, adapt to current trends, and make participation more accessible for everyone.
Specifically, we introduced two main changes:
Combined Print Categories: Due to a declining number of print entries, we merged the "Standard" and "Unlimited" PRINT categories into a single group. As part of this merger the rules now allow up to FOUR entries in the OPEN and THEME PRINT categories. The rules remain the same for the Digital categories.
Greater Attendance Flexibility: To better accommodate busy schedules, we increased the number of meetings a member can miss while remaining eligible to compete from one meeting to three.
In our enthusiasm to roll these updates out quickly, we recently realized that we did not follow the formal amendment procedure outlined in our club’s bylaws. At our last Board meeting, we discussed this procedural oversight. We firmly believe these changes were made in good faith, are highly beneficial to our members, and genuinely improve our day-to-day operations.
Rather than rolling back these positive adjustments, we would like to keep them in place. To do this properly, we are proposing an amendment to our bylaws so they accurately reflect how we operate. While reviewing the document, we also identified a few other minor updates to ensure the bylaws are fully aligned with our current club practices.
In accordance with our constitution, we will present the revised bylaws to the general membership for ratification at our next club meeting.
A link to a copy of the PROPOSED BYLAWS can be found on the homepage of the club’s website.
Thank you for your understanding, your flexibility, and your continued support in making the Focus Photo Club a fantastic community for all of us.
Sincerely,
The Focus Photo Club Board
