About Us
The Focus Photo Club was founded in 1989 for the enjoyment of all photographers, from the amateur to the professional. Each monthly meeting includes a speaker, workshop or presentation and a competition for the club members. Other photographic and social activities are planned according to the members' wishes.
The Club meets at the Cox Arboretum, 6773 Springboro Pike, Dayton, OH (click here for a map) on the first Thursday of every month (except for holidays and in June when we have our annual Banquet) from 7:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Guests are invited to attend at any time.
Monthly Photoshop tutorials, taught by Chris Mathews, will begin at 6:30 p.m. on the nights of the meetings.
The club year runs from July through the following June. Individual dues are $25.00 per year and family dues are $21.00 for each additional family member.
Each monthly competition features five categories
- Color Print
- Black & White Print
- Small Printt
- Slides
- Extended Photography
Throughout the year, a special competition may be held in areas such as portrait photography, images from field trips, etc.
Awards - Ribbons are awarded in each division. At the June banquet, awards are given for total competition points and for service to the club.
